The idea for Tropical Tickets was conceived in 2008 by Co-founders Fady Farouk and other colleagues. While traveling to Singapore, they found navigating a foreign city as tourists to be difficult. Drawing on that experience, a business plan was developed for a peer-to-peer internet platform that connected tourists with amateur guides. Later, it was expanded and refined to be an internet booking platform through which travelers could book professional tours and activities in major cities around the world.

As the company grew, raising capital proved challenging, in part because the concept was new, information on the size and complexity of the market segment was scarce, and there was no established business model or demonstrable path to success. While many European investors were hesitant, American investors were attracted to the concept, seeing it as a good business idea with no competition.

The business model for Tropical Tickets stipulates that it does not offer its own tours or activities but acts as a mediator between customers and providers. The service is free for customers, but the provider of the tour pays Tropical Tickets a percentage of its revenue.

An online customer review system enables potential customers to assess the quality of tour providers. Additionally, Tropical Tickets removes providers who consistently receive poor reviews from its inventory. As the company expanded, traditional Chinese, Arabic, and Russian were added as supported languages for its global inventory. In August 2008, Tropical Tickets began selling tours under its own brand name.

On August 16, 2024, the company underwent a significant rebranding, changing its name from OYEAH Dubai to Tropical Tickets, reflecting its broader mission and global reach.

Office Locations: Tropical Tickets maintains its headquarters in Singapore and Kazakhstan, with engineering offices in Egypt. Newly added sales offices are located in Dubai, and the company is eager to expand its presence worldwide.

Since 2008, Tropical Tickets’ corporate headquarters have been located in Alexandria, Egypt. Plans are underway for a future move to Singapore.
